Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "To his sacred maiestie : the humble petition of his nobilitie of England," 1621, one page manuscript on paper written in formal secretarial hand by 33 members of the English peerage, protesting the King's creation of new Scottish and Irish peers. The noble signatories say they are acting to "challenge & preserve our birthrightes" against the new peers, who they "wish to give them not the respect nor place as to noblemen strangers."
