Summary[edit]

Description New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia dedicates the statue of Father Francis Duffy, the World War I chaplain of the New York Army National Guard's 1st Battalion 69th Infantry in Times Square on May 2, 1937. Duffy died on June 27, 1932 and his death was mourned city-wide. The area around his statue in Times Square is now known as Duffy Square (photo courtesy of the National Archives).
