Summary[edit]

Description
English: another fashion vignette from the Tacoma Times.
  • Text: Three of the girls came in yesterday to look up scenes for their Shakespearean tableaux for the evening of the 23d. They looked mighty neat and trim in their new spring shirt waists. One wore a white linen with a plain yoke outlined with stitched straps. The straps were sewed over the shoulder seam and one strap was set on down the sleeve to give the broad effect. From this last strap the sleeve was plaited and, falling full, was gathered into a straight cuff. The front band was stitched and the fronts were plaited just under the yoke. Another waist was of a light weight mercerized cotton and was tucked in half-inch tucks from the shoulders to just below the bust, where it was let to blouse and was gathered into a belt. The sleeves were tucked from the shoulder nearly to the elbow. Another waist was of white embroidered linen, with a sort of double-breasted effect in plaits and stitching. A new feature was the tiny watch pocket at the left of the front, from which hung a monogram watch guard of beads. The girls wore soft ties, simply knotted in front, some in bows, some in four-in-hand effect.
