Three dimensional computer model of a fracture and fault network (DFN/DFFN), showing the different geological sets in colours, generated by the DMX Protocol using a combination of probabilistic and deterministic procedures.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This computer model was generated using a digitised fault and fracture network visible on a quarzite tile. Different sets were recognised and classified in a semi-automatic way. A three-dimensional network was generated using the software pcake() part of the DMX Protocol. This procedure uses a combination of deterministic (the fracture traces visible on the pavement) and probablistic (orientation variation, height, and truncations) variations to generate the three dimensional network (a TIN).
