Graving dock where the Titanic was built

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Thompson Graving Dock, Harland & Wolff shipyard, Belfast. At the time this graving dock which was 850 ft (259 metres) long was the largest graving dock in the world. RMS Titanic, operated by the White Star Line was built in this long dry dock. The Titanic itself was 882 ft (269 metres) in length but at its waterline it had the length of the graving dock. The current offices of the White Star Line and a gantry crane owned by Harland and Wolff can be seen in the background.
