Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The tomb of Eliugh Yale - south side. The tomb of Eliugh Yale is at the west end of St Giles' church near the tower. In 1701 Yale provided some funding for the foundation of the what is today Yale College in U.S.A. The inscription on the south side reads:

M S Eliugh Yale Esq was buried the twentysecond of july the year of our Lord MDCCXXI [1721]

Interestingly the Francis Frith photo of 1895 shows a similar but different tomb at this location. It had railings (but they would have been removed for salvage in WWII), but also the moulding along the base was different and in 1895 the top was flat whereas today it is domed. http://www.frithphotos.com/wrexham/photos/the-tomb-of-eliugh-yale-1895_36279/
