The use of roller-skating rinks as park attractions is fast be-coming general and the Samuel Winslow Skate ManufacturingCo. of Worcester, Mass., advises that large orders for rollerskates, to be supplied for the 1906 season, foretell the return of theroller-skating fad. This company has manufactured skates of allkinds since 1873 and is therefore a pioneer in its line. With thisexperience, extending over a period of nearly 35 years, it has beenpossible to greatly perfect the methods and products of its plants.1 here are now being manufactured many patterns of skates, eachone of which is said to be adapted to the particular use for whichit is designed. Then thepower is slowly reduced and the car gently lowered to the ground.The speed regulation is secured by an electric controller governingall the machinery in operation. The company has installed swings at Paragon Park. NantasketBeach. Boston, Mass.; the White City, Chicago, 111.; Elitch Gar-dens, Denver, Col.; the Chutes, San Francisco. Cab; Forest ParkHighlands. St. Louis. Mo., and Paradise Park, Ft. George, NewYork. The electric line which the Ocean Shore Railway Co. has underconstruction will extend from San Franciscoto Santa Cruz, a distance of 82 miles. Theroad will be double-tracked throughout itsentire length. Its train service will be han-dled by 43 GE-66 four-motor equipments withtype M control. It is said that these unitswill be capable of a maximum speed of 60m. p. h
