On the new line the trolley and feed wires are supported on3§-ft. chestnut poles with minimum 6-in. tops. The grades are allbelow Ii per cent, with the exception of the viaduct approacheswhere the grade is 4^ per cent. Both concrete and timber culvertsand water passes are now in use but the former will be made stand-ard. Seventy-pound. A. S. C. F.-section. 30-ft. rails are used. Theserest on 6 x 8-in. x S-ft. hard-wood ties laid with 2-ft. centers. The where it is necessary dead men and guy wires are used to keep thepoles in position. The pine arms which carry the three-phasetransmission line on 7-in. glass insulators, are 4x5 in. x 6 ft. in sizeand are fastened by a y2 x 13-in. bolt and braced by two ^xl^x24-in. galvanized iron braces. The braces are secured by )i x 2 and4-in. lag screws.
