This cam is thrown at will by a wooden handlehaving a metal socket which fits over the short projection seen onthe side of the cam. A dog is provided which engages in suitablenotches to lock the cam at the working or idle position of the cutter Fig. 3 is a cross section of the device showing the vertical shaft,the compression spring and the ball bearing for lessening the fric-tion of the revolving spindle.
