The best time of year for red bears is in March,April and May, when they have still got longwinter coats and when (where they exist at all)they are to be found on any grassy slopes belowthe snow. I have, however, frequently foundtheir coats very matted and woolly at this time ofthe year, and not nearly so good as in Octoberand November, when they are both long andclean.
