Lith-uania was overswept by the Germans in 1915 andthey refused to give it up when they made theirtreaties of peace with Russia and Ukrainia.Lithuania has an area of 132,000 square miles.It includes the provinces of Kovno, Vllna, Sulvalli,bordering on Prussia; a part of Russian Polandand parts of Moghilev, Grodno, Minsk, and Vitebskand has an established population of 7,000,000. Lusitania—This was a Cunard Liner, which atabout 2:00 P. M. on May 7th, 1915, on a voyagefrom New York with 1,918 persons on board, wassunk by the German Submarine U-3 9 withoutnotice. This occurred ten miles off Old Head ofKinsale. The boat sunk about twenty-one minutesafter the attack and 1,154 lives were lost includ-ing men, women and children. 114 of these wereAmericans.
