The obverse of a silver struck/ hammered denarius, minted in Rome by L. Caesius in 112 or 111 BC.
Description
English: A struck/ hammered silver denarius of L. Caesi, minted at Rome in 112 or 111 BC (diameter: 22.1mm; thickness: 0.8mm; weight: 3.14g). Apollo is represented on the obverse with a monogram to the right depicting possibly 'Ap' (Crawford, 1974, page 312, ref no 298). The reverse depicts Lares Praestites seated facing with a dog in between. The bust of Vulcan with tongs over shoulder is just visible above the figures, as is part of the inscription below. The coin is slightly worn but in a fair condition.
