The offspring may therefore not only differmarkedly from one another, but may also differ greatly fromtheir parents, and may vary from those much poorer thanthe parent stock to those much better than the parent stock.It is the selection of those individuals showing variation inthe desired direction that constitutes most of the endeavorin breeding.
