Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe layer of zirconium dioxide rolled into a cocoon.jpg |
English: The processed image of zirconium dioxide membrane rolled into a cocoon. The thickness of oxide layer is 500 nm. The size of the form is about a few microns. The zirconia membrane was synthesized by electrochemical oxidation of a zirconium metal foil in organic electrolyte. The membrane consists of a huge number of orthogonal nanotubes of zirconium dioxide. The size of such nanotubes is 50-70 nm in diameter and 500 nm in length. Self-organized hole-array materials formed by electrochemical anodization of various metals have attracted a great deal of attention due to unique geometrical structures, facile fabrication process, economic feasibility and a wide range of applications in the field of nanoscience such as nanomasks for patterning, ordered metal nanohole arrays for optical subwavelength transmission, antibody-attached membranes for enantiomeric drug separation, nanotemplates for polymer nanotubes, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC), an evaporation mask and high density arrays of nanocapacitors |
