Anatomy of the copulatory apparatus, anterior to the right:

  • (A and B) respectively an horizontal longitudinal section and a diagrammatic reconstruction through the copulatory apparatus to the same scale;
  • (C) posterior of the female ducts showing the junction of the ovovitelline ducts;
  • (D) anterior of the male ducts showing the junction of the sperm ducts, both with copious stored sperm (cyanophylic) with the ventral end of the vertical sperm duct.
Abbreviations: ed, ejaculatory duct; jod, junction of the ovovitelline ducts; jsd, junction of the sperm ducts and the vertical sperm duct; od, ovovitelline duct; p, penis; sd, sperm duct; shg, shell gland; vsd, vertical sperm duct. Scales: (A and B) 2 mm; (C and D) 500 µm.
