Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe four glories of the genus Conus between the 18th and 20th century.jpg |
English: The four glories of the genus Conus between the 18th and 20th century
This image contains the four glories of the genus Conus between the 18th and 20th century, in the conquiliological collections of these period.
All of these names of the species - below - were given, over the space of 200 years, after the discovery of the existence of Conus gloriamaris - on top - a species that was considered extremely difficult to obtain until the second half of the 20th century; and they're also named for their scarcity of obtaining, in the past, and for their impressive format and pattern.[5] In the early of the 21st century, a new species, classified by G.T. Poppe & S.P. Tagaro as Conus glorioceanus; in the text "A spectacular new Conus (Conidae) from the Philippines"; published in June 2009, in Visaya 2 (4): 52-56; was placed between then in these nomenclature[6]; named as Glory-of-the-Oceans Cone.[7]
