It is believedthat the Chinese weavers will be set at work on fabrics for skirt-dancers that will be made from the original filament as it leavesthe silk-worms mouth, but scoured of one-quarter of its weight.In this way a thousand yards of Cloth might weigh but afew ounces. How old is the Loom ? The loom for plain weaving is represented in the Egyptianmonumental paintings and on Greek vases.
