A closeup of leaves and branches of a bush. One branch has a white tag attached to it.

The extremely rare Ho'awa bush. There is only a small handful of this particular plant left in the wild. The tag in this photo is there to mark a flower that has been hand pollinated in an effort to help the plant reproduce. Using a tool, much like an eyeliner brush, volunteers carefully brushed the pollen onto each delicate flowers on this bush in 2014.
