Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Bardwell, Suffolk, mural monument dated 1651/2 with kneeling effigies of Thomas Reade (c.1614-1651/2) of Wrangle in Lincolnshire (son of Sir John Reade (1561-2-1626) of Wrangle, Sheriff of Lincolnshire) and his wife Bridget Crofts (c.1613-1694-5), a daughter of Sir Charles Crofts of Bardwell, with their 7 children shown below.   • 1&4: Gules, on a bend argent three shovellers sable (Reade) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.843 "Reade of Lincoln")
  • 2: Azure, a bend between two .... or ?
  • 3: Argent, three bars azure

  • 2&3: Sable, a chevron ermine between three lion's heads erased argent ? (Piers ?) (Burke, 1884, p.802), possibly for Elizabeth Pierse (see her monument at Ixworth), daughter and heiress of John Pierse of Northwold, Norfolk, wife of Charles Croftes, of Ixworth Thorpe, Suffolk.
