Andwhen his mother told the boy that she had saved a littlewood and would warm the room and he should h ve a 63 mug or two of warm milk in the morning, he was over-joyed and danced and clapped his little hands with delight.Accordingly he laid his roll in the table drawer in orderto eat it with his milk, and played with great pleasurewith the golden apple but did not want to eat it becauseit shone and glittered so beautifully. The next morningwhen the room was warm and the boy had got his milkand taken out the roll, he saw a handsome but very palelittle boy looking in through the dim window which washalf covered with frost; the little stranger looked verypoor and seemed to be very cold. Then our little friendwas sorry for the poor child out doors because he hadto hunger and freeze on Christmas day; and he laid awayhis roll and set down his mug of milk and went and
