this time, the Parson, Phillips, and I were up, and,dismounting, we all united in a genuine old Bear-huntersyell, and hugged each other, just as men and comrades doafter a deadly and successful charge of a battery. Then the question came up, AVhat must we do Aviththe Bear ? The sun was nearlj down, it was ten miles tocamp, and a river, deep and two hundred yards wide, toswim—we were wet, hungrj^, and the cold was growingmore intense every moment.
