With us these lateand debased pieces were flaunted in VII, and we find on themthe last wrecks of the characteristic animal ornament of VI.There is no sign here of a renaissance nor of the introductionof the new schemes of interlacing. The fragments of whatonce were animal forms are planted closely over the fieldfilling up the spaces but suggesting to the eye neither designnor distribution. Cont
