Exhibit of General Electric Company 322 EJLECTRICITY. / In the centre of the building the tower of light is intended as/ the glorification of the Edison lamp and the Edison system ofincandescent lighting. It was designed by Luther Stieringer forthe General Electric Company, and the plans were approved by Mr*Edison. The tower is 82 feethigh and arises from a circularpavilion 32 feet in diameter.The glass exhibit in this pavilionis made by the Phoenix GlassCompany, of Pittsburg, and isgrouped in the space betweenthe base of the column, which ispolygonal and faced with mir-rors, and the circular row of col-umns supporting the roof of thepavilion. Above the pavilion isa graceful cylindrical shaft ofstaff, endinof in an elaboratelyt/ornamented gilded capital. Thesurface of the shaft is relieved bydark lines of moulding, arrangedin geometrical designs, as shownin the illustration, with little sixcandle-power lamps of differentcolors inserted at frequent andregular
