A course of lectures covering the whole fieldof welfare and explaining in detail the service of block workerhas been given to the block workers so that they may have anintelligent idea of what work they have to do. She sought to help a Hungariangirl, employed as a stenographer, who was of the same ageas her oldest daughter. She suggested to the girls motherthat if she were allowed to attend some of the social gatheringsat the school center and perhaps to join one of the girls clubsshe would find the recreation that would offset the nervousnessresulting from her work.
