from overhead shafting turned by a Westinghouse induc-tion motor. The floor is concrete and the walls are painted freight cars in the mill or hauled from the stock piles onpush cars. The car erecting shop and paint shop are in one longbuilding on the Meridian Avenue side and are separatedfrom each other by a brick fire wall. The openings in thewall over each of the three tracks, which are continuousthrough the building, are closed by rolling steel doors. Theerecting shop is 48 ft. x 260 ft. It has a concrete floor andis admirably lighted by high windows in the west wall andmonitor skylights in the roof. The tracks are spaced 15 ft.center to center, giving ample room for working in theaisles between cars. Twelve of the largest interurban carscan be accommodated at one time here, allowing 65 ft. oflength for each car. The paint shop is 221 ft. long and 54 ft. wide, slightlywider than the erecting shop.
