Hot feed water is pumped into the 312-in.boiler-feed line by the high-pressure feed pumps whichdraw their supply by gravity from the elevated heater.The low-pressure pumps are of the piston pattern, withcylinders 9 in. and 8 in. x 12 in., while the boiler feedpumps are of the outside center-packed plunger type withcylinders 12 in. and 8 in. x 12 in. ENGINE ROOM The arrangement of the apparatus in the engine room iss\-mmetrical.
