THE 180O-KW UNITS These consist of Mclntosh-Seymourvertical cross-compound engines andGeneral Electric direct-current generators. They areequipped with barometric condensers, supplied w^ith waterby centrifugal pumps driven by Buckeye vertical engines. FIG. 6.—DETAIL OF PIPING during construction, shows in a marked way the differencein size of the turbine and reciprocating units. The turbineexhausts into a Worthington jet condenser placed belowthe floor. An independent atmospheric exhaust extendsfrom the condenser connections out through the roof of theengine room. Condenser water is furnished by a 26-in.centrifugal pump located in the basement and driven by asingle Harrisburg horizontal engine. A 10 in. x 24 in. x13 in. dry vacuum pump is installed on the main floor foruse in connection with this condenser.
