. THE NORTH WHITE PLAINS PLANTThe inspection plant at North WhitePlains is at the end of the electric zoneDu the Harlem Division, 24.4 miles fromthe Grand Central Station. The installa-tion has been laid out on the west sideof the running tracks. From, the generalplan on page 1025, it will be seen that theelectric car storage yard is also on thesame side, the steam rolling stock being-cared for on another plot of the throughtracks. The two plants, therefore, areentirely independent, except that the))ower equipment for the new installationhas been placed in one of the old steambuildings. The general plan also shows that atpresent only three of the tracks terminate in the inspectionshed, but eventually the latter will be doubled in size to ■make room for three more. Space also is provided at thewest for a locomotive shop. On the whole, the present inspection shed, which is 420ft. long and 56 ft. wide, follows the constructional features 1024 STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. (Vol. XXIX. No. iz.
