to go to the shops theyturn north, crossing the Philadelphia & Western tracksunder grade; otherwise they describe a rising loop of 150-ft. radius over the depressed shop tracks, returning to takeeast-bound passengers from the south platform. The emer-gency track previously mentioned starts from the storagetracks and encircles part of the loop. It extends under thestation, being used for extra trains and for unloadingfreight at the basement level, from which it is continued asa switch track connection to the Philadelphia & West Ches-ter Companys tracks. Cars from the Philadelphia RapidTransit Companys surface lines connecting with the Phila-delphia & West Chester at Sixty-Third and Market Streetscan therefore be hauled to the shops if necessary. The Philadelphia & West Chester Companys section hasa southern frontage of 172 ft. and is 117 ft. deep. The tracks of this company comingfrom the west climb a walled embankment leading to a five-track stub terminal level with the waiting rooms. Thenorthernmost track is furnished with an inspection pit.The loading tracks are 155 ft. long except the one on thesouth, which is 17 ft. less. The platforms in this sectionare also of reinforced concrete. The middle platforms,which are four in number, are 15 ft. 534 ins. wide and havea fence down the center for the entire length of the shed toprevent confusion between arriving and departing passen-gers. A similar fence will extend from wall to wall alongthe west side of the lobby used by the Philadelphia & WestChester passengers.
