CITY CAR FOR EVERETT, WASH. ing is used in the smoking compartment. The cherry-stained interior finish and Nile-green ceilings of poplarmake a pleasing combination. Push buttons, arm rests andbasket racks are among the accessories which add to thecomfort of the passengers. The trucks, with 6-ft. wheel-base, are of the builders 27-E1 type. The motors are of45 hp capacity each. The car weighs without trucks, butwith electrical equipment excepting the air brakes, 27,000 lbs. Company. The larger of the two typesis intended for interurban travel on theNorthern Pacific branch line which isleased by the street railway company andelectrified; the road connects Lowell andSnohomish, the latter place being thechief town of Snohomish County, oneof the richest in the State in agriculturalproduce and in lumber and mining in-dustries. Everett, with a population ofabout 21,000, is situated 35 miles north ofSeattle on one of the best harbors ofPuget Sound, and the interurban por-tion of the system is
