NewOrleans is well supplied with open air resorts, those situatedon Lake Pontchartrain being the most popular. Along thegulf coast, within easy access, are a number of popular re-sorts, where fine fishing and boating attract many visitors.The single-truck cars have transverse seats with a capacityof twei:)ty-eight passengers per car. -♦-♦^ According to an announcement made in Boston, the BostonSuburban Street Railway Company is to put in operation be-tween South Framingham and Worcester, as an experiment,a combination car with a smoking compartment, the first ofthe kind in eastern Massachusetts. DOUBLE-TRUCK CAR FOR THE NEW ORLEANS RAILWAY & LIGHT COMPANY dow sashes drop into pockets in the sides and the small uppersashes are stationary. The following are the principal dimen-sions : Length over the bodies, 20 ft. 8 ins., and over thevestibules, 29 ft. 4 ins.; width over the sills, including panels,7 ft. 7J/2 ins., and over the posts at belt, 8 ft.; sweep of theposts, 2^ ins.; centers of posts, 2 ft. 10^ ins.; height fromthe floor to ceiling, 8 ft. % in.; from the track to the underside of the sills, 2 ft. 53^ ins.; and from the under side of thesills over the trolley board, 9 ft. 23^ ins.; from the track tothe platform step, 13^4 ins., and from the step to the plat-form, 1334 ins.
