The ab-solute necessity for reliability in a transmis-sion line that serves a public utility of suchmagnitude as the Long Island Railroad, re-quires a stability in all parts of the construc-tion that calls for the exercise of engineer-ing skill and foresight to a greater extentthan has hitherto been usually brought tobear.
