rge basement from theHuron Street side. Trunks and baggage will be elevated tothe tracks or to the sidewalks on the Beech Street front bylifts, so that all loading and unloading of baggage in the stationproper will be eliminated. directly from the station floor, but those for Nos. 2 and 3 willpass down a flight of stairs, through a passage under the tracks, and up to a wide platform. Passengers for track No. 4 willpass beyond to a similar stairway and to a platform beyondNo. 4 track. The various roads will always use the same track, and announcers will designate the proper track. There will beno posts in the station, eliminating another prolific source ofaccidents. As intimated, the trackage space and train shedcan be increased 100 per cent without changing the plan ofoperation in the least. The location of the station is about one block north of the 200 STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. (Vol. XXYJI. No. 5. paEg HIIbn HI□ nEn 1ml ill: fin n 31 n TOEn log□3 j □EL B pp□ QSI =D3S Da mo #= rm

February 3, 1906.) STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. 201 present waiting room at Superior and Adams Streets, and itimmediately adjoins the present freight station of the inter-urban companies. The Toledo Railways & Light Companyowns the entire block with the exception of a small piece, andthere is ample room for large extensions to the freight stationas well as to the passenger station. It is two blocks north ofthe corner of Superior and Madison Streets, the business cen-ter of the city. This removes it somewhat from the most con-gested district, yet leaves it very near to the shopping andwholesale districts. From an operating standpoint, it is muchmore advantageous to both the interurbans and the city com-pany than the present waiting room at Superior and AdamsStreets. At present the cars traverse the loop formed by Su-perior, Jefferson, St. Clair and Adams Streets, which is themost congested district in the city, so much so that the citycars are greatly delayed by the loading and unloadin
