for 200 trucks for the HavanaCentral Railway Company, Havana, Cuba, of the type illus-trated in the accompanying cut. This truck was designed bythe company for heavy loads especially, and also to meet therequirements of a truck for high-speed interurban service. Itis, in fact, built to carry a load of 50,000 lbs., or a total loadon two trucks of 100,000 lbs. As may be observed by refer-ence to the reproduction, the truck is constructed along theM. C. B. lines. The top frame is of heavy angle bars, wellbraced by extra large gusset plates at the corners of the truckand at the transoms. To the side frames are bolted the cast-steel pedestals, a machine fit being secured between the pedes-tal aiid the frame. The journal boxes, which are of malleableiron, are fitted with oil-tight covers, and arc machined togive a clearance of 1-31 in. on each side of the box between thebox and the pedestal.
