THE CAMELON SWING BRIDGE OPEN 7 miles of track. The general contractors were Bruce Peebles& Company, with J. G. White & Company sub-contractors forthe track. The rails, which are laid to a 4-ft. gage, weigh 90 lbs. peryard, and conform to the British standard No. 1 section andspecification. They are laid in 45-ft.lengths on a,6-in. bed of 6 to 1 con-crete. The joints are made with 24-in., six-bolt angle plates. The bondsare of the Neptune type, No. 0000section, and the rails are cross-bondedat every 45 yds. The crossings andall special work are Hadfields man-ganese steel. The radius of thesharpest curve is 48 ft. The routeis hilly, but the grades are on thewhole not severe, the worst being 6l/2per cent for a length of about 300 ft. The overhead construction is of thebracket-arm type on all sections, withthe exception of about )i mile ofspan wire, which is supported in partby poles and in part by rosettes.There is no center-pole construction.The side poles are in three pieces,a
