The Secaucus plant is temporarily connected with four sub-stations—Palisade Avenue, New Durham, Hackensack andPassaic—with 13,200-volt, 25-cycle energy for railway dis-tribution. The plant contains one three-phase, 25-cycle, 13,200-volt, General Electric, 1800-kw generator, direct-connected toan horizontal compound Brown-Corless condensing engine;two three-phase, 25-cycle, 13,200-volt, General Electric, 400-kwgenerators, each direct-connected to an horizontal compoundcondensing Watts-Campbell engine; three direct-current, 550-volt, Westinghouse, 350-kw generators, each directly connectedto a Bass horizontal, cross-compound condensing engine. MAP OF CENTRAL NEW JERSEY SECTION SERVED BY PUBLIC SERVICE CORPORATION the east side of the Passaic. Three conductors, No. 00, lead-covered, paper-insulated cables are run underground from theeast cable house to the Marion power house. There are alsoin Wayne Street eight 100-kw Wagner, oil-cooled, 6600-2400-volt transformers, used for commercial incandescent lightingas step-down transformers from the Newark station. Theconcentration of service supply for railway and lighting to thePennsylvania sub-station and the abandonment of the com-paratively uneconomical plants of Wayne Street and GrandStreet will make for economy in copper and in kw-hour cost. The Palisade Avenue plant has been shut down since lastspring. It consisted of small generators belted to jack shaftand slow-speed engines. The Palisade sub-station, tempo-rarily fed from Coal Street and Secaucus, will be fed entirelyby the Marion plant and consists of three 1000-kw, .three-phase, 25-cycle, General Electric, 13,200-550-vol
