old at re-ceivers sale at Springfield,Ohio, Monday, Feb. 19. J. E.Locke, of Boston, representingthe reorganization committee ofbondholders, purchased both forthe so-called Widener-Elkinssyndicate, of Boston, paying$600,000 for the Dayton, Spring-field & Urbana Railway, and$250,000 for the Columbus,London & Springfield Railway.These roads will be im-proved, and will form part of a through system acrossOhio and Indiana. It had been intimated that there wouldbe considerable competition in these sales, but the only otherbidder on the Dayton, Springfield & Urbana was Graft Ken-nedy, who represented the stockholders. The Widener-Elkins interests also bought the lease of the Springfield &Western Railway, which is operated by the Dayton, Spring-field & Urbana. Mr. Locke bought Tecumseh Park, on theline of the Dayton, Springfield & Urbana, for $2,000. No electrical details of the locomotive were published. —♦♦♦ SERIOUS WRECK ON THE LINE OF WESTERN OHIO RAIL-WAY COMPANY Mayor Tom L. Johnson, of Cleveland, has reopened nego-tiations with the Cleveland Electric Railway Company look-ing to the sale of that companys property to a holdingcompany to be controlled by the municipality. This schemewas broached some time ago, and was outlined in detail inthis paper at that time. Without consenting to accept the One of the famous Lima Limiteds on the line of the West-ern Ohio Railway was wrecked Monday, this week; one pas-senger was killed and four were injured. Newspaper reportsintimate that the accident was occasioned by the failure of thetrain crew to properly flag the rear end after a stop had beenmade to make some slight repairs to the
