The polesare of four classes, weighing, respec-tively, 1000 lbs., 1100 lbs., 1234 lbs.and 1400 lbs. The trolley wire is ofNo. 0000 section, and guard wires are used to some extent. The car house has six tracks, and atpresent accommodates eighteen cars, though there is room formore. Pits are provided beneath four of the tracks. The cars, which number eighteen, are all single-truck double-deckers, without roof covers, and an illustration is presentedto show the general type. Their dimensions are as follows: STANDARD DOUBLE-DECK CAR CLIMBING A GRADE ON THELINE OF THE FALKIRK & DISTRICT TRAMWAYS has been introduced in the motors of this firm by providingthe armature bearings with ring lubrication. A check is fittedabove the ring to prevent its chattering when passing overswitches. Ordinary pad lubrication is used for the axle bear-ings. The motors are rated at 30 hp each.

Hand andrheostatic brakes are fitted to all cars. The power supply for the tramways is obtained from theRonnybridge station of the Scottish Central Electric PowerCompany, recently erected and equipped throughout by Bruce January 6, 1906.) STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. 21 Peebles & Company. The power is transmitted at 3300 volts,two-phase, 50 periods, to a sub-station, the interior of which isillustrated. The sub-station equipment includes two Peebles-la Cour motor converters, which are each of 200-kw nominalcapacity, but each can readily take an over-load of 100 per cent for short periods, so thatat present one set can take the tramway load.Largely owing to the fact that they are woundtwelve-phase, these machines are very stablein parallel, while owing to their special con-structi
