ANTA ROSA RAILWAY The overhead construction of the line is supported from30-ft. Washington cedar poles set at the sides of the right ofway and spaced 100 ft. apart. The poles are set 6 ft. in theground, and before setting the butts were treated with crudeoil as a preservative. The overhead conductor consistsof two No. 0000 grooved trolley wires, spaced 6 ins. apart,and hung with twin hangers. Jumpers, consisting of copperstrips and located every 600 ft., cross-connect the two wires. July i, 1905.) STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. 13 Anderson overhead material is used, with the exception of aspecial trolley ear which has been developed by the officers ofthe railroad. The two trolley wires are supplied with current atPetaluma and Sebastopol, and at first were sufficient to operatethe road without feeders. MOTOR CAR USED AS A FREIGHT LOCOMOTIVE AND FORCONSTRUCTION PURPOSES county highway most of the distance, and the poles that carrya 55,000-volt transmission line of the California Gas & Electric-Corporation are used to support the trolley wires on one side.As the transmission poles are spaced 200 ft. apart, ordinary30-ft. poles are alternated with them on that side. The railway is operated by power purchased from the Cali-fornia Gas & Electric Corporation under a ten-year contract.
