It is readily adaptable for use open, semi-enclosed or enclosed. The average speed variation is 5 percent from full load to no load, at any set speed of the con-troller. THE LATEST CONCRETE BEAM TRACK CONSTRUCTIONIN INDIANAPOLIS T h c accompany-ing drawing showsthe latest track con-struction on con-crete beams laid bythe IndianapolisTraction & Termi-nal Company. Thisconstruction was de-scribed in the paperof Thomas B. Mc-Math, civil engineerof that company,which was read be-fore the IndianaElectric RailwayAssociation conven-tion at Indianapolis,Jan. 12, and pub-lished in the StreetRailway Journalof Jan. 21. The ac-companying draw-ing was also pre-sented to the con-vention at that time.This constructionis employed on thestreets approachingthe new interurbanterminal station. Wooden ties tohold the track togage are placedevery 12 ft. Con-crete beams are laidunder each rail tosupport the rail.The peculiarity ofthis construction liesin the anchor boltsholding the t i eplates, which wereinserted by Mr. Mc-Math for the pur-pose of preventingthe rails from kick-ing up under thetraffic. This was ap-parently one of theweak points of pre-vious concrete beamc
