DETAILS OF BODY AND UNDERFRAMING OF THE NEW ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE FOR THE BROOKLYN RAPID TRANSIT COMPANY STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. — (Vol. XXV. No. 8. the trolley pole circuit or to the third-rail shoes, for operationthus either in the shop yard or upon the elevated structure. The spaces underneath the sloping front decks at either endprovide valuable storage facilities for the auxiliary apparatus.Under one end is located the air compressor, pump governor,main reservoirs and piping for the air-brake system, all ofwhich apparatus is of the Christensen automatic type. Under-neath at the other end are located the resistance units requiredin the motor control circuits. This disposal of the auxiliaryapparatus gives the maximum amount of room below the un-der frame. The spaces beneath the sloping decks also serve tocarry the ballast that was found necessary to bring the totalweight of the locomotive up to 25 tons for adhesive purposes inhauling; the ballast consists of a pile of old rails at
