The manufacturer of thistype states that orders for twenty-six different companies, ag-gregating j6j cars, with the grooveless-post semi-convertiblewindow system, are being built at the present time. Stand-ardization of dimensions for certain forms of service naturallyfollows in a type so largely used as this. These standards arethe result of the experience of the managers of a large numberof important systems in all parts of the country, and are basedon the carefully estimated value of the factors which, com-bined, produce maximum earning power. The four sizes of this type of car, shown in the accompany-ing diagrams, are those which are in largest use. Fig. 1 showsa 20-ft. 8-in. body mounted on a single truck with 7-ft. wheelbase. The Brooklyn Heights Railway Company has recently placedan order with the Westinghouse Electric & ManufacturingCompany for a substantial addition to its present equipment,consisting of 300 No. 101-B Westinghouse d. c. railway motorsand 150 sets of controllers. The order for motors is in addi-tion to one placed some months ago for 600 similar motors. A TRAIN OF CONSTRUCTION CARS READY FOR SHIPMENT TO THE MEXICAN ELECTRIC TRAMWAYS, MEXICO CITY floor, are the measurements with the car mounted on a No.21-E truck, which the builder states is a reduction of 2 ins.from the height of the car as carried by other designs of singletrucks. The length of the platforms, it will be noticed, is thesame as in the longer cars, which measurement should not beexceeded in a single-truck car of this length. It will also benoticed that the centers of posts are 2 ft. 5 ins. apart, while inthe longer cars they are spaced 2 ft. 8 ins. apart. This, ofcourse, is to increase the seating capacity for the lengt
