ses. A mostentertaining programme was rendered and nearly all the offi-cials of the company and employees were present, as well asmany prominent citizens as guests. Early last fall it was suggested by certain members of theSchenectady Railway Benefit Association that a night schoolwould be a great advantage to the members of the organiza-tion. At a meeting of the board of trustees a committee ofthree, composed of C. C. Lewis, J. F. Hamilton and E. F.Peck, were appointed to carry on the work. It was decided todivide the work into two courses—one treating on electricity,as applied to a trolley car, and the other to mathematics. J. G.Baukat, engineer and master mechanic of the SchenectadyRailway Company, very kindly offered his services as instructorof the electrical course, and R. H. Read, of the General Elec-tric Company, was employed as instructor in mathematics.Sixteen joined the electrical course and 11 the mathematical. At the close of the term competitive examinations were held.
