m M. C. B. trucks, and the system of air braking usedis the Christensen straight-air type, supplied by the NationalElectric Company. Thirty-three-inch cast-iron wheels are used,having 3-in. treads and ^4-in. flanges. Each car is equippedwith four General Electric type 67 motors and type B-28 con-trollers. The auxiliary equipment consists of Milloy roller-bearing trolley bases, Knutson trolley retrievers, Ham sandboxes and Imperial arc headlights, manufactured by theCrouse-Hinds Electric Company. A number of flat and box cars which were used in the con-struction of the road have been retained for the handling offreight upon the interurban lines. These cars are of standardconstruction as used upon steam railroads, and are adaptableto the heaviest classes of freight handling. Owing to con-formity of gage, interchange of cars in freight shipments isthus made possible with any of the steam roads intersected inLansing. ONE OF THE STANDARD DOUBLE-TRUCK CARS IN USE UPON THE INTERURBAN DIVISION,TURNING INTO THE CITY TRACKS TO ENTER LANSING stock equipment of the city operating company for use upon thecity lines. These embrace several Jewett open cars, oneof which is illustrated in an accompanying illustration. Single-truck cars are in general use upon the city lines, although dou-ble-truck cars are operated over the 3^-mile line to the Michi-gan Agricultural College. The standard city car of the com-pany is the single-truck car, 22 ft. to 26 ft. long, while upon theAgricultural College line, 42-ft. double-truck cars are used.The greater part of the older cars formerly used in the city February 25, 1905.) STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. 347 have been largely rebuilt and re-equipped to bring them up tothe latest standards. The closed cars have been equipped withvestibules, in accordance with the Michigan laws, and a verypleasing appearance is the result. The above new work has been carried out in the repair shop
