The adoption of a gold basis, withthe ratio of 2 to i, has resulted in unquestionablestability in the monetary system. The new sys-tem of coins includes i-centavo, 2-centavo and 5-centavo pieces in copper, worth, respectively,I and 2i^ cents; 10, 20 and 50 centavos and ipeso, in silver, corresponding to 5, 10, 25 and 50cents.
