Theapparatus was installed by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company.FEED-WATER AND PUMPSThe water for the station is taken from Big Walnut Creek,and is brought through a 36-in. pipe into a well in the engineroom basement. The entrance to the well is provided withscreens and a cut-off valve, the river end of the pipe beingprotected by a crib work of timber and concrete. An analysisof the water of the creek showed its unfitness for use forboiler-feeding purposes, and a purifying plant was provided.This was installed by the New York Continental Jewell Filtra-tion Company. The water is raised from the well by a steam-driven duplex iiuiii)). furnished by the Dean Brothers SteamPump Works, and delivered to a tank, where it is treated withchemicals and allowed to settle. It then passes through a sandfilter, after which it is stored in a clear well. Two motor-driven triplex pumps, one being in reserve, furnished by the STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. (Vol. XXIV. No. 23.
