Another feature of this series of loops is that each one hasa direct connection with all of the others, so that in the eventof any special attraction at the Pike or Skinker entrances theOlive and Delmar cars can run directly there and return bytheir customary routes with no inconvenience and but littleloss of till\e. The ability of the local transportation companies to handlethe crowds was demonstrated to the great satisfaction of bothcompanies and public at the first real test, which was on open-ing day, April 30. The crowds were taken care of so well onthat day as to excite much favorable editorial comment fromthe St. Louis daily papers. PART OF THE STILE AT DE BALVIERE LOOP were amply borne out. The opening day crowds were carriedcomfortably and without crowding. The St. Louis Transit Company on that day carried about927,000 people with 1000 cars in operation; the St. Louis &Suburban about 94,000 with no cars, and the Wabash shuttletrains 16,514. It is reported that the Columbus, London & Springfield Elec-tric Railway Company, operating between Columbus, Londonand Springfield, Ohio, will put in operation regularily for oneround trip each, morning and evening, the parlor cars hereto-fore reserved exclusively for private parties,
