8io STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. (Vol. XXIII. No. 22. voltmeter plugs and 750-volt Western voltmeters. Four d. c.feeder panels have M. K. cireuit breakers, Thomson am-meters and voltmeters. On a swinging arm at the side of theboard are Weston static voltmeters for the d. c. sides of therotaries. On panels in front of the transformers are switchesfor starting the rotaries at half tap. At this station they havediscontinued the practice of starting rotaries from the d. c.side, although two of the boards are arranged for this method.In front of the motor-driven exciter is a panel for starting theexciter with direct current. A city lighting circuit has beenbrought into the house, and it may lie used for lighting in casethe house should shut down. Under ordinary conditions thelights in the house are supplied by the exciter sets. Owing to the use of the stokers and cheap coal, together with efficientcondensing apparatus, the cost of current has been broughtdown as low as $.0054 per kilowatt-hour,
