s near Canal Dover. During the severe floodsa month ago the stone abutments and approaches of this bridgewere washed out, and traffic over the bridge was interruptedfor a time, transfers being made. It was necessary to drivepiling to support the bridge and then rebuild the abutments.It is due the company, however, to state that the floods in thisdistrict were the worst ever experienced. Several times waterwas up almost to the floors of bridges, but this was the only onethat was washed out, whereas the parallel steam road lost threebridges in this vicinity. On the interurban lines, poles are 35 ft. tall, with 7-1n. and 8o2 STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. (Vol. XXIII. No. 22. 8-in. tops, and spaced 100 ft. apart. Fifteen inches from the topof the pole there is a cross-arm, 2 ins. x 3 ins. x 30 ins., carrying-two three-phase high tension lines, the third being at the top ofthe pole. On the Canton-Akron division they are No. 1and No. 4 bare copper, and on the Canton-New Philadelphiathey are 133,000-cm aluminum. Passing through Canton andMassillon the high-tension lines are No. 1 lead-covered, paper-insulated cables, which are strung with messenger cablehangers the same as telephone cables. Between Canton andMassillon there are two sets of high-tension lines supported ontwo cross arms, the same 18-in. triangle being maintained by Company. A 500,000-cm aluminum feed wire extends the fulllength of the line, and is tapped to the trolley every 1100 ft.Trolley on the Canton-New Philadelphia is one 0000 groovedwire, held by 9-in.
