This axisfor the wing is heavily liraccd bymeans of two iron braces, i in. x 6in., running to the center and op-posite side of the underframing andreinforced bv verttcal braces. (Vol. XXL No. 13. gives a construction which is substantial enough to withstandthe efifect of the great leverage necessarily brought to bear onthe end of the wing, which not only has to remove the new snowfrom the other track but has to throw the snow removed by thenose to one side.
